The duo, who currently host Radio Aire’s weekday breakfast show in Leeds, were accompanying 10 listeners who had won a nano-break with Air Southwest and The Bay Hotel overlooking Fistral Beach.
The competition was designed to promote Newquay as a year-round visitor destination and highlight the convenience of Air Southwest’s flights between Newquay and Leeds Bradford Airport.
Air Southwest marketing manager Roz Mears explained: “We flew JK & Joel and the competition winners down from Leeds to Newquay on our morning flight, had time for lunch and a quick surfing lesson with The Bay Hotel, and then flew them home on our afternoon flight.
“We wanted to show them just how accessible Newquay is from the North East as a year-round visitor destination and how much fun people can have when they’re here.”
JK – aka Jason King ¬– said: “We had a fantastic time and our listeners really loved it. We couldn’t believe that we could be on the beach in Cornwall within a few hours of leaving home so we’ll definitely be back.”
