Over £220 was collected through the sale of four kinds of homemade soup, bread, buns, pies and honeycomb chocolate and will go towards a campaign to help the 18 year old, who has an aggressive and incurable form of cancer, to fulfill his dying wishes.
The tikka spiced vegetable, spicy tomato and sausage, curried apple and potato and leek and potato soups were made by property managers Philippa Penney and Jacqui Gulliford and Katie Chown, who works in online communications marketing.
A total of £225 was raised with £135 coming from the staff at the head office and a £90 donation from Classic Cottages itself. This is the second soup kitchen that the team at Classic has organised this year – back in January they raised money for Cornwall Hospice Care’s ‘Build the Vision’ appeal.
Katie Chown said: “When we heard about Joshua’s situation, we wanted to do something practical to help raise money for the campaign to help him to achieve his dreams. It is such a sad story that we couldn’t help but be touched by the idea of helping Joshua fulfill his wishes. I am really pleased that the whole team at Classic got behind the soup kitchen once again and supported our effort. We are also really grateful to Classic for topping up the money to go towards Joshua’s fund.”
