Caring staff get on their bikes in a bid to raise £10,000

28/09/2010

Staff from Cornwall Care, the county’s largest provider of care for older people, are taking on a challenge to ‘Cycle the Company’ on Friday 03 October in a bid to raise £10,000 for older people in Cornwall.

The challenge, organised by Bryony Gilbert, deputy manager of St Breock care home in Wadebridge, will see staff from across the charity’s 18 residential care homes cycling a combined distance of 162 miles, covering the length and breadth of Cornwall. The challenge comprises three routes, which the cyclists will follow in relay, taking in all of the charity’s residential homes and ending at a special celebration in Indian Queens.

Each member of staff taking part in the ‘Cycle the Company’ challenge will be raising money for the Cornwall Care residential home they work for. The money raised will go towards outings, events and Christmas presents for Cornwall Care residents and clients.

Bryony Gilbert, organiser of the ‘Cycle the Company’ challenge said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for Cornwall Care staff to show their dedication to the fantastic residents that live with us. We are all eager to complete this challenge to raise up to £10,000 and can’t wait to see the positive impact this money will have.”

Douglas Webb, Chief Executive of Cornwall Care said: “Every penny raised from this fantastic challenge will go towards helping our clients live full, vibrant and happy lives well into their older age. I am incredibly proud of our dedicated staff for taking on this challenge and for the lengths they go to every day in supporting and caring for our residents.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor the cyclists, or make a donation can contact Cornwall Care’s head office on 01872 261787.
