Tea dance to highlight dementia

27/06/2011

An old-fashioned tea dance is taking place in Camborne next month to help mark Dementia Awareness Week.

The event is being jointly hosted by the Alzheimer’s Society and Cornwall Care, the county’s largest provider of care for older people.

The tea dance will take place on July 7 from 1pm to 4pm at the Lowennac Hotel, Camborne. There are 90 places available, and the event is free.

People attending the event will be able to get information from other agencies involved in the support and care of older people, such as Age Concern, Memory Cafes and the Rotary Club.

Entertainment throughout the afternoon will be provided by Colin Kerbishley, Glenys McMahn, also known as Supergran, and Wandering Daphne. The event will be paid for via a raffle on the day, with any outstanding costs being shared between the two organisations.

Douglas Webb, Chief Executive of Cornwall Care, said: “We are delighted to be working alongside the Alzheimer’s Society to highlight dementia – an important issue which is close to all our heart’s here at Cornwall Care – and we hope to work together on more events and initiatives in the future.”

Anybody who would like to attend should contact Teresa Parsons on 01872 277963.
