Shelley Fletcher, Account Manager at Bodmin based PR agency, Deborah Clark Associates, walked away with the coveted Gold award at the CIPR West of England PRide Awards in Bristol.
Led by the professional body of the PR industry, the CIPR PRide awards recognise outstanding success and achievement across the country.
It is the first time that anyone from Cornwall has been shortlisted for the award, which was announced at a lavish awards evening at the Mercure Holland Hotel in Bristol last week [Friday November 7.]
With over 1,500 entries nationwide across all categories and a rigorous judging process from a national panel of industry experts, Shelley, aged 26, said she was absolutely thrilled to win.
“It was an amazing honour to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, let alone win it. I am absolutely overjoyed to have the title of Outstanding Young Communicator of the Year. It’s fantastic to be able to bring the award to Cornwall for the first time. I hope it will inspire other practitioners to enter the awards in the future.”
Lis Anderson, Chair of CIPR West of England, said: “To win a CIPR PRide Award is a tremendous achievement. This year’s winners really do have something to shout about, having faced the highest number of entries and stiffest competition ever. A CIPR PRide Award is a hallmark of professionalism and success, marking the best in our profession out from the crowd.”
On the judging panel, Sarah Pinch, Head of Communications at the
University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Shelley impressed us with her ambition to succeed and make her mark on the PR industry.
“We all felt Shelley demonstrated a passion for her career and enthusiasm for the PR industry far beyond her experience to date. With determination to fly the flag for PR in her resident Cornwall Shelley is without doubt a rising star.”
Shelley currently works across a range of consumer clients in the travel, tourism, marine, food & drink, care and retail sectors.
