‘Shared Equity Clinic’ to help buyers find the perfect home at Cargo, Millbay

15/02/2010

Experts on hand at Cargo sales office on Thursday February 25th.

Experts will be on hand to advise home buyers on how a newly launched shared equity scheme can work for them – and help them move into a stunning new home at the award-winning Cargo, Millbay.

A Shared Equity Clinic is being held at Cargo on Thursday February 25, with mortgage and legal advisors from Mortgages4Plymouth and Wolferstans solicitors available to give one-to-one advice.

Cargo sales staff will also be conducting viewings – and as an added incentive, the first three reservations on the day will qualify for £300 of M&S vouchers, payable on completion.

The event follows the launch a new shared equity scheme on selected apartments specifically designed to give homebuyers a helping hand to buy their new home at Cargo. The EZI Equity Scheme has been launched by Millbay’s lead developer English Cities Fund (ECf) and is aimed at first time buyers and also owner/occupiers who currently don’t have a mortgage.

It means buyers can move into their new home in Cargo for 80 per cent of the full market purchase price – with top floor one-bedroom apartments under the EZI Equity scheme now available from £103,960 and two-bedroom apartments from £119,960. Purchasers will need to put down a minimum deposit of five per cent to qualify for the scheme.

David Caught, Sales and Marketing Director of Muse developments, one of the partners within ECf, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to move into their new home at Cargo. The experts at the Shared Equity Clinic are all highly experienced, able to discuss the individual circumstances of buyers and to advise them on qualifying for the EZI Equity Scheme as well as getting the right mortgage package.”

English Cities Fund (ECf) is the public-private partnership leading the regeneration of Millbay and involving the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Muse Developments and Legal and General. Under ECf’s EZI Equity scheme, the outstanding 20 per cent shared equity is secured against the property by a second charge and is basically a 10-year interest- and rent-free loan.

Cargo, (www.cargoplymouth.com) in Millbay Road, has proved a huge success since opening last year and was recently judged the winner of the Best Housing Scheme award at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) South West Town & Country Design Awards.

The development features 134 stylish and superbly equipped one and two-bedroom apartments and four bedroom townhouses, underground car parking and a landscaped courtyard garden. All homes have fully-fitted contemporary kitchens with integrated AEG/Electrolux appliances including electric oven, hob and extractor, dishwasher, fridge and freezer and Zanussi washer/drier in separate laundry cupboard.

The featured one bedroom apartments are well situated on the top floor and offer one of the most spacious layouts available of Cargo’s one-bedroom apartments

Anyone interested in finding out more about buying a home in Cargo through the EZI Equity scheme can come along to the Shared Equity Clinic on Thursday February 25 between 11.30-1pm and 4-6pm.
