Exeter City FC’s Football in the Community Trust is teaming up with Bucks New University to offer the innovative new Futsal and Education degree for young footballers who wish to pursue a career in playing or coaching.
A two year flexible study programme will gain students a FDA qualification in Applied Coaching Science, with the opportunity to stay on for another year to top it up to a BSc (Hons) in Coaching Science.
The course will be based at Exeter City FC, with additional workshops at Bucks New University, and will be delivered by fully qualified coaches.
The programme, which is available to college or sixth form leavers aged 18 or over, will combine academic and vocational learning in a performance based playing environment, and is designed to enhance the career prospects of all students who join.
Jamie Vittles, Community Trust Manager for Exeter City FC’s Football in the Community Trust said: “The new Futsal and Education undergraduate degree programme is an amazing opportunity for anyone interested in working the football industry, becoming a professional Futsal player or working as a professional football coach. Students enrolling on the course will be able to work and learn in one of the UK’s fastest growing and exciting sports, which players such as Messi, Ronaldo and Fabregas all attribute to their football development.
“We’ve got a limited number of places on the course, so anyone who is interested in starting the course in September 2012 should get in touch now to find and more and see if the course could be the route into Higher Education that they’ve been looking for.”
