Heartlands senior management team is complete

31/08/2011

The Senior Management team at Heartlands, Pool, is now in place following the appointment of a Commercial Manager and Finance and Resources Manager.

Sean O’Neill and Tracey Frankish will join Chief Executive Vicky Martin and Marketing Manager Kate Turnbull to form the team that will take the £35 million Cornwall Council led project forward through completion and opening early next year.

Sean O’Neill will be joining the Heartlands team as Finance and Resources Manager, following a diverse career working in accounting and finance across the country, most recently at Carn Brea Leisure Centre in Pool.

Originally from Tamworth, Staffordshire, Sean began his accounting career in the Lake District working in retail and the hotel industry before moving to Stockport where he worked as financial controller for Independent Pharmacy Care Centres Plc. In 2008 he relocated to Cornwall, and has been firmly ingrained in the local community ever since.

Before taking on the new role at Heartlands, Sean worked first at the Pall Corporation in Redruth before beginning his three year spell as Finance Manager at the Carn Brea Leisure Centre, so he will be a familiar face to many of the local community.

Sean said: “Working just over the road at Carn Brea I have watched with much interest as the Heartlands development has taken shape.  The site will have huge benefits for the local communities of Camborne, Pool and Redruth, both as a catalyst for continuing regeneration and investment, and as a destination for local people and visitors alike. I feel very privileged to now be a part of this exciting project.”

In her role as Commercial Manager, Tracey Frankish will bring to Heartlands extensive experience of the hospitality industry, from her previous work travelling the world with Formula 1 and World Rally providing hospitality for Goodyear, Stewart Grand Prix, Williams and Ford; and her more recent experience of managing hospitality and catering operations for the National Trust at Wimpole Hall, Cambridgeshire and the Manchester Art Gallery.

Speaking about her appointment, Tracey said: “Heartlands will be extremely important for the local community and we have a mammoth task which will be both challenging and rewarding. It’s wonderful to be part of such an inspirational team and we are all committed to this magical place.  I am honoured to have been given this opportunity.”

The Heartlands development, which is being funded through a £22.3m grant from the Big Lottery Fund and funding from the Homes and Communities Agency, will create new jobs, training and volunteer opportunities.  The diverse and exciting range of positions available will be advertised by the Trust throughout the autumn ahead of the opening of the site to the world in the spring of 2012.

Malcolm Moyle, Chairman of the Heartlands Trust, added: “The recruitment of the senior management team is a fantastic milestone for the development, and having these individuals in place is really going to help with the progression of the project in the lead up to opening.”
