New images of Plymouth Life Centre released

03/02/2011

A brand new set of architects’ images showing the interior design of the Plymouth Life Centre have been released today (Thursday 3 February 2011).

Detailed drawings of the bowls rink and social area, changing village and entrance reception give people a better idea of how the city’s new £46.5 million leisure centre will look once it’s completed in the autumn.

The Plymouth Life Centre will provide some of the highest quality leisure facilities in the South West, as well as being one of the country’s leading centres for aquatic excellence.

The image of the bowls rink shows the indoor artificial bowling green along with lockers and an electronic scoreboard for players. The seating and social areas can also been seen with steps up to a raised platform overlooking the playing area, complete with tables and chairs. Changing cubicles and tiled communal areas with sinks and mirrors can be seen in the image of changing village.

In the drawing of the entrance reception, the leisure pool and flumes can be seen through a floor to ceiling glazed wall. It also shows a glazed mezzanine walkway above the reception area, tables and chairs, a seating area, television/display screen, vending machines and a modern reception desk.

Councillor Peter Brookshaw, Plymouth City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Sport, said: “The new drawings give people a better picture of how the Plymouth Life Centre will look inside when it opens.. There is a great deal of anticipation and interest in the new facilities, not just in Plymouth but across the South West, and these new images help to show people just how different the building will look from the construction site at the moment.”
