The six detailed drawings show views of the main sports hall, swimming pool and dive pool, multi-purpose studio, reception and servery, main corridor and wet change cubicles inside the £46.5 million sports facility, funded by Plymouth City Council.
Construction is well underway on the Plymouth Life Centre and it is due to be completed by the main contractor Balfour Beatty in the autumn.
The image of the main sports hall shows the playing area defined with court markings on the floor, basketball and netball hoops, nets to divide the courts and a raised seating area for spectators. In another drawing the swimming pool and dive pool can be seen, alongside the sloping roof structure and dive platforms at varying levels which are currently being built on-site.
In the image of the multi-purpose studio, a mirrored wall for dance and fitness activities is shown with auditorium seating. The main corridor, off the reception area, incorporates turnstiles leading to the main leisure facilities and tiled flooring. The image of the main corridor also shows how artwork and displays will be used to make the wall-space interesting for visitors.
The Plymouth Life Centre will provide some of the highest quality leisure facilities in the South West, as well as being one of the country’s leading centres for aquatic excellence.
Councillor Peter Brookshaw, Plymouth City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Sport, said: “This new set of images will give people a much better idea of how the Plymouth Life Centre will look once it’s finished and open to the public later this year. Every day the construction site of this exciting development is changing and evolving into what is fast becoming one of the most anticipated projects to be built in the whole of the South West.”
