Miranda Gardiner signs up for Flavour Fest 2010

20/07/2010

Devon based author and culinary sensation Miranda Gardiner will be appearing at Plymouth Flavour Fest 2010, for two demonstrations in the cookery theatre as well as signing copies of her delicious food novel ‘Teaching Dad to cook Flapjack’.

A collection of recipes and memories, ‘Teaching Dad to cook Flapjack’ was written after Miranda’s mother died.  Taking inspiration from her mother’s recipes and using her experience in the kitchen of Keith Floyd’s Devon restaurant and an Italian cafĂ© in Sydney, Miranda created an informal how-to-do manual for her dad to help him learn to cook and fend for himself. The book also contains a blend of ancient Cornish and newer Finnish food, with influences from as far afield as Australia.

Now settled with her husband and three children in Bigbury, Miranda already knows and buys from many of the local food producers already signed up to appear alongside her at Flavour Fest from 13-15 August.
Speaking of her first appearance at the South West’s largest free food fair, Miranda Gardiner said: “I am thrilled to be involved in this year’s Flavour Fest alongside many of the region’s top food producers”.

Flavour Fest is organised by Plymouth City Centre Company (PCCC). Amanda Bishop, Events and Marketing Coordinator at Plymouth City Centre Company said: “This year’s Flavour Fest is shaping up to be the best so far. We are delighted to announce that Miranda Gardiner will be making two appearances in the cookery theatre as well as doing book signing.

“Miranda adds to the already mouth watering line-up in the cookery theatre which includes demonstrations from Peter Gorton, Jacques Marchal and the Tanner Brothers. Flavour Fest 2010 is definitely not one to be missed!”

Flavour Fest runs from 13-15 August and transforms Plymouth’s Piazza into a bustling, Continental-style market, with over 100 of the finest regional food and drink producers. Now in its seventh tasty year the event has a strong base of traders returning as well as some exciting new traders including Dartmoor Chilli Farm, Bridport Gourmet Pies, Pieminister, the Well Hung Meat Company and the Clovelly Bay Inn at Turnchapel.
Flavour Fest 2010 is supported and sponsored by Castles Kitchens, Lawson’s, St Austell Brewery, Gaymer’s Cider, Wyld Meadow Farm and Westaway’s Sausages.
