Brewery celebrates opening of 33 bedroom hotel in Truro

30/06/2011

A contemporary hotel with a local theme will be officially opened in Truro today by St Austell Brewery.

The 33-bedroom lodge, adjoining the County Arms at Highertown, is the Brewery’s first hotel in the city.

It will have an authentic Cornish feel and will focus on the Brewery’s renowned quality and value-for-money, with rooms starting at £50 per night.

Adam Luck, St Austell Brewery’s Estate Director, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for us and will give us our first hotel in the city of Truro, close to the headquarters of Cornwall Council and the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

“We have identified a shortage of quality, good value accommodation in the Truro area and this is a great opportunity to meet this demand with a new hotel linked to a well-established, popular pub.”

Designed and constructed by local firms to exacting environmental standards, our new bedrooms, with their contemporary furnishings and luxury Vi-Sprung mattresses, offer the ideal home-from-home experience.
All 33 bedrooms provide the amenities that you would expect; modern en-suites, convenient work space, flat-screen televisions, refreshments tray and high quality mattresses that promise a good night’s sleep.

Two of the bedrooms have been designed for those with disabilities and inter-connecting rooms, sofa-beds and cots make provision for family visits.

Bedrooms at the rear of the property make the most of stunning scenery with juliet balconies overlooking the wooded valley.

Free WiFi is available throughout the building and quiet comfortable seating areas provide and an ideal spot to work or meet with colleagues.

Mr Luck added: “The hotel will be linked to the County Arms and operated by the pub’s existing managers Antony and Kelly Woodcock, offering our usual warm welcome combined with a great location.

“This is part of a long-term expansion strategy by the Brewery to add to our successful estate in Cornwall and Devon where we now have 174 of the region’s best pubs, inns and hotels.”

St Austell Brewery is well-known for its range of quality hotel, inn and pub accommodation within its estate. In 2009 the Brewery was named Regional Brewer of the Year in recognition of its pubs, its award-winning ales and its innovative approach to business, combined with strong community and family values.
