The Truro-based firm has been rated in the top ten in a number of categories in the latest 2011/12 edition of The Lex 100.
The 7th annual edition picks out Stephens Scown for scoring highly in job satisfaction, work/life balance, firm living up to expectations, friendliness, quality of work, stress levels and client contact, which was described as ‘frequent and consistent’.
Online surveys were sent to more than 130 firms this year to ask current trainees for their honest views about their firm.
Stephens Scown was given 9 out of 10 for quality of work, client contact, work/life balance and for being a friendly firm. Trainees were asked if Stephens Scown was a fictional character what would it be – the response likened the firm to the ‘roadrunner’ – quietly and efficiently always managing to stay one step ahead!

Comments from students surveyed highlight the staff at Stephens Scown who are ‘very professional but also very friendly’ and the strict open-door policy providing ‘great support to employees’. Others said the ‘firm is ambitious but the people are really friendly and down to earth’, it attracts some ‘high-profile’ clients and that trainees felt like ‘an integral part of the team’.
Trainees described Stephens Scown as having a ‘young vibe’ and offers ‘the best of both worlds’ with the ‘opportunity to be involved in top-quality exciting work while living an active lifestyle’.
