Bob, 61, a Chartered Surveyor, has had a long and successful career in commercial property, including a 32-year involvement as a senior executive with Land Securities.
He has been involved in all aspects of retail property and is credited with the delivery of many award winning schemes. He founded the Bristol Alliance to deliver 1.5m sq ft of retail led mixed use regeneration, with Cabot Circus opening in 2008, and was involved in the creation of the Birmingham Alliance, delivering the Bull Ring in 2003.
For 10 years Bob was a board member of the British Council of Shopping Centres and was its President in 2005. He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centres, where he has been a frequent speaker at international events, and has also held board positions with a number of Land Securities Group companies and joint venture vehicles.
Bob is principal of De Barr Associates, specialising in development consultancy and related business opportunities, and has particular interest the South West region from both a business and a leisure perspective.

Earlier this year Sutton Harbour Holdings Plc announced the appointment of Jason Schofield, 46, as chief executive, as the company continues to focus on its asset-backed, waterfront marine and regeneration operations.
Jason, also a chartered surveyor, has served as executive director since December 2007 and prior to joining the company held senior positions at Hammerson plc and Crest Nicholson Plc.
Sutton Harbour Holdings plc is listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange. It has a mixed use investment property portfolio valued at more than £47 million and the business owns and operates the 573-berth Sutton Harbour Marina and Sutton Harbour Fisheries – the largest fresh fish market in England.
Current projects include the new 179-berth King Point Marina at Millbay Docks in Plymouth, where it is the nominated developer. The marina received planning consent in December 2011. In January this year the company successfully raised £5.7 million through a share placing and open offer, some of which will be used to fund the new marina. Work is expected to start later this year.
Sutton Harbour Holdings plc is also preferred developer for a new 400-berth marina at East Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
