White River Cinema is Cornwall’s first brand new cinema complex for over 70 years and marks the first completed phase of the £75 million St Austell town centre regeneration scheme.
David Williams, Managing Director of WTW Cinemas, which also owns and operates cinemas in Truro, Wadebridge and Padstow said: “With less than a week to go now, our staff are working really hard on making sure that everything is ready for when we open to the public for the first time. We’re confident there will be a huge demand for tickets as they go on sale – I’m sure the opening night and first few weeks of trading will be especially popular.
He continued: “People in St Austell and the surrounding areas have missed having a cinema on their doorstep and White River Cinema is part of our commitment to delivering high-quality film viewing in a comfortable, state-of-the-art building for all to enjoy.”
Over 650 people will be able to watch films in the four screens on the first floor of the building. The entrance and foyer are located on the ground floor with access from Trinity Street.
Next spring, a charity gala premiere for invited guests will be held to celebrate the opening of the cinema and more details will be revealed in the New Year. White River Cinema is part of a three year development plan by WTW Cinemas which includes achieving planning consent for a new four screen cinema in Newquay and the refit of the existing Plaza cinema in Truro.
