On Bank Holiday Monday (4 June) Cornwall’s leisure and shopping destination will be hosting a sit-down tea party buffet and live entertainment to honour the special and unique occasion.
As well as the free buffet to cater for up to 100 guests, White River Place will be laying on a full day of family fun with live music from 6-piece swing band The Roosters, a two-part Jubilee quiz, face-painter, balloon modeller, fairground rides and summer games.
Tables will be decorated with Diamond Jubilee balloons, teapots and Union Jack flags, along with Jubilee hats, crowns and tiaras to help everyone get into the celebratory spirit.
A buffet will be laid out with everything that would be expected from a proper English tea party – sandwiches, pork pies, quiche, sausage rolls, trifle, tea, coffee and cold drinks. Each table will also have its own tiered cake stand filled with Victoria Sponges and Jubilee cupcakes.
Claire Daniel, White River Place Centre Manager, said: “St Austell definitely knows how to celebrate big events in style, which was proved by the excellent turnout we had to see the Olympic Torch pass through the town. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is another fantastic reason for the local community to come together and party in true British style, and we’ve got a great day planned with lots of fun, food and entertainment for all the family to enjoy!”
The White River Place Diamond Jubilee celebrations will be taking place in Aylmer Square from 12pm – 4pm on Monday 4 June. Food will be served on a first come, first served basis between 12pm and 2pm.
