If you haven’t, you’ll soon get the chance, as White River Place shopping centre hosts its first ever Mascot Day on Saturday 17 August.
To celebrate the arrival of White River Place’s own new mascot, the White River Rabbit, the centre has invited its retailers and partners to bring their own mascots to join in with a day of fun and games.
Frankie & Benny’s mascot Sketch the Dog, Rowe’s Bakery’s Mr Pasty, Cornwall Air Ambulance’s helicopter mascot and the British Heart Foundation’s Artie Beat will all be taking part in a series of challenges to entertain shoppers throughout the day.
Games will include an egg and spoon race, tug of war and a dance off. Children will have the chance to meet the mascots and have photographs taken in between the events.
White River Place is currently running an online competition to give the White River Rabbit a name.
Entrants can give their suggestions for a suitable name through Facebook and Twitter until Friday 16 August, before the winning name is announced at the Mascot Day and the person who suggested it is presented with a prize.
Claire Daniel, White River Place Centre Manager said: “The Mascot Day is going to be a really fun way of introducing the White River Rabbit to shoppers in St Austell and animating the centre with lots of lighthearted games and events. It will be a good promotional opportunity for the retailers taking part, and will also highlight two of the charities we are supporting this year – Cornwall Air Ambulance and the British Heart Foundation.”
The White River Place Mascot Day is taking place between 11am and 3pm on Saturday 17 August. To enter the competition to name the White River Rabbit, follow @whiteriverplace on Twitter or become a fan of White River Place on Facebook and put forward your suggestions.
