Free IT equipment for Cornwall community groups

20/12/2011

Accountancy firm Francis Clark has teamed up with the Cornwall Community Foundation to offer free IT equipment to community groups across the county.

Following the recent merger between Francis Clark and Winter Rule, the Truro-based office of Francis Clark found itself with an excess of IT equipment, including 12 high quality printers.

Keen to put the spare equipment to good use, Francis Clark got in touch with the Cornwall Community Foundation, a charity which helps small organisations in Cornwall which are having a positive impact in their area.

Amy Smith, Marketing and Events Co-ordinator at Francis Clark said: “As a result of the Winter Rule–Francis Clark merger earlier this year, we ended up with some surplus equipment, including these 12 printers. We didn’t want to just throw them away, as they’re all in perfect working order, so we contacted the Cornwall Community Foundation to see if they could help. They support a network of community groups across Cornwall, so we knew that they would be able to find people who could really put them to good use, and hopefully it will come as a nice Christmas boost to the groups which receive them.”

The printers were handed over to Carolyn Boyce, the new CEO at Cornwall Community Foundation, who will now distribute them to local groups that will be able to benefit from them.

Carolyn Boyce added: “The printers will be going to volunteer-led groups in Cornwall which are working towards making a positive impact in their local communities. When Francis Clark asked if we would be able to help them find new homes for the printers, we were happy to assist, as there are a lot of organisations that would never be able to afford such good quality equipment without our help.”

Anyone representing a Cornish community group or organisation interested in taking one of the printers can contact the Cornwall Community Foundation on 01566 779333.
