Meet The Team

The award-winning team at DCA includes PR graduates, marketing professionals and former journalists, all of whom have outstanding writing skills, understand news management and are adept at campaign development.

John Casey

John Casey
Director

John has extensive experience in public relations and the media having joined DCA from the Plymouth Herald, where he was news editor, then going on to become co-director of the agency.
 
John has a degree in Economics and Politics and prior to university worked as a quantity surveyor on major schemes in the City of London and Docklands.

John handles PR for clients as diverse as the South West RDA and St Austell Brewery and retains a strong interest in development and regeneration through his work with English Cities Fund, Red Tree and Plymouth City Development Company.

Jason Clark
Director

Jason is a co-director of DCA and joined the company in 2001. A trained journalist, he spent eight years with the Western Morning News including two as business editor and four as news editor, running a busy newsroom.

He has a degree in English Language and Literature from University College Oxford and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism Studies from the Cardiff School of Journalism.

Jason acts for a diverse range of public and private sector clients including the South West RDA, Air Southwest, Stephens Scown and the Duchy of Cornwall.

Ryan Martinez
Account Director

Ryan Martinez joined DCA in 2007 and has worked in both journalism and public relations at a senior level for more than 10 years. Ryan was previously communications manager at East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside Airports.

Ryan has won a Gold CIPR PRide award for Digital UK’s campaign to promote the switchover to digital television in the West Country and was shortlisted for the CIPR PRide ‘Young Communicator’ award, as well as Cornish Mutual’s ‘Dig Down South West’ campaign.

A trained broadcast journalist with his roots in the Westcountry, he has worked as news editor for Severn Sound Radio and was head of news for regional radio station 106 Century FM in the East Midlands for three years.

Ryan’s clients include Stephens Scown, Cornish Mutual, Plymouth City Council, White River Place St Austell and Classic Cottages. He has also developed DCA’s media training and crisis communications packages.

Jenny Bishop
Account Manager

Jenny joined DCA in March 2010 with 10 years of experience delivering effective marketing and communications across the public, private and third sector.

Qualified to post-graduate level with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Jenny has held senior communications positions at the Big Lottery Fund, House of Fraser, and South Hams District Council and brings a full-service marketing knowledge to DCA.

Jenny’s clients include Plymouth City Centre Company and Plymouth Summer Festival.

Outside of work Jenny is a Director on the board of Plymouth based creative performance company, Attik Dance.

Zoe Bourdeaux
Account Manager

Zoe Bourdeaux joined DCA in April 2010 from the Cornish Guardian newspaper, where she was community editor in St Austell.

A trained journalist, Zoe moved home to Cornwall from London in 2008. During her stint in the city, she worked as news editor for the Recorder newspaper series in east London and handled communications for Westminster City Council’s housing arm.

For the past five years Zoe has also written for a range of national newspapers and magazines including The Sun and Take a Break.

Zoe’s clients include St Austell Brewery, A&P Falmouth, Land’s End, Cornwall Care and Falmouth Harbour Commissioners.
 

Natalie Blachford
Account Executive

Natalie joined DCA as an account executive in July 2010 on an Unlocking Cornish Potential graduate placement.

She graduated from Bournemouth University in 2009 with a degree in Multi-Media Journalism and worked as a PR assistant at not-for-profit organisation Rezolve Kernow before joining DCA.

Natalie is developing DCA’s website and social media as well as helping clients with their social media strategies.

Natalie is also supporting the team on a wide range of client accounts, including White River Place, the Carbis Bay Hotel, Exeter City FC and the Mill End Hotel.

Sam Searle
Office Manager

Sam joined the company in 2008 after graduating with a degree in Interior Textiles and Surface Design from Somerset College of Art and Technology.
 
Sam is responsible for all the office administration at DCA including media monitoring, analysis of coverage and the overall smooth running of the office.

Sam also takes an active role in the organisation of corporate events and in working with clients to set up media calls and photography shoots.

Sam is currently on maternity leave.
